Nepal has many different ranging graded rivers for white water paddlers as many as Himalayan ranges for trekkers. River running is virtually as old as civilization itself but Rafting and Kayaking as recreational activities are relatively new in Nepal. A river journey in an exotic country like Nepal makes traveler's journey unique and unforgettable. This recreational activity gives visitors extra ordinary way of discovery it's civilization, rural areas, cultural, flora and fauna by floating on rubber boat on the river and coming into contact with village people the conventional traveler hardly ever get to meet.

Pleasure of River running is complemented. A river trip is often an adventure but not always. An amateur with a little sense of adventure can equally enjoy it. A river trip also provides an opportunity for geological surveys and fishing. You are provided with whitewater life-vest to put on all the time while on the river. You are also provided with a helmet. A trained professional river guide heads the rafting team, drifting easily oftentimes paddling away in a frenzy whooping and screaming with waves crashing in through powerful, fast flowing rapids. Even the stability, sturdiness and buoyancy of Modern self-bailing rafts enable to safety challenge on these exiting rivers.

This temple is situated five kilometers east of Kathmandu city center. Pashupati literally means “Lord of Animals” and is considered to be the patron deity of Nepal. Pashupati Nath is regarded as one of the holiest sites for Hindus all over the world.
Pashupati Nath temple is a pagoda style two-tiered golden roof with exquisitely carved four silver doors containing in its sanctum a phallic idol with four faces facing each directionand the 5th one is looking up towards the Zenith. A temple dedicated to Lord Shiva was constructed at the present site by Lichchhavi King Supushpa Verma according to an ancient chronical. However the present temple is claimed to have been built by King Bhupatindra Mall in 1697 A.D. Legend has it that a cow would frequently escape from its herds and offer milk on a Jyotirlinga which denotes the paint where the temple stands today. It is said that a certain cowherd much to his surprise found the self-generated Jyotirlinga when he dug the spot where the cow would give milk. The spot immediately became the center of worship that has been continued till today.

Bhaktapur Durbar Square (world heritage sites)


 Bhaktapur meaning the city of devotes, was founded by King Ananda Dev in 1197 A.D. according to the Lichchhavi period (185-750 A.D.). There are many monuments including pagodas, palace, shikhara style monuments, courtyards and Buddhists shrines and monasteries. The Durbar Square was the seat of the Mall Kings and the present structures were erected from the 12th to the 18th century. Bhaktapur is located at around 12 kilometer away from the Kathmandu City. Bhaktapur city is believed as oldest city of Nepal. It symbolizes whole Nepalese traditions. While you are visiting Bhaktapur you can see traditional houses, traditional dress up, monuments, Pagoda temples, culture and their activities. Most of the people are engaged in farming beside this some people are busy in making wood sculpture,  paintings and stone sculpture. Patan also known as Lalitpur means the city of arts. It is located across the river Bagmati only five kilometers south of Kathmandu City Center. This city founded in 3rd century, by King Veera Dev, has a distinction of being the home of the finest craft and is considered as an oldest city of all the three cities of Kathmandu Valley. Most of the monuments in this square date back to the medieval Malla Period from 16th to 18th century and the monuments in the area are mostly credited to King Siddhi Narsingh Mall, Shri Niwas Mall and Yog Narendra Mall. Main chowks (courtyards); Patan Durbar Square consists of three main courtyards –Mul Chowk, Sundari Chowk and Mani Keshab Narayan Chowk which houses the Patan Museum. The Sundari Chowk built by King Siddhi Narsingh Mall in 1647 A.D. contains the master piece of stone sculpture. Some of the famous monuments are listed as below:

Muktinath



Muktinath is a sacred place for both Hindus and Tibetan Buddhists at 3750 meters (12,300 feet) at the Annapurna Circuit in the Himalayas of Nepal. It is a great example of how two religions can share the same holy spot with mutual respect and support. In Muktinath all the elements are represented, not only earth, air and holy water, but also fire. Beside trees are growing at an unusual altitude. For this and reasons unseen yogis from both religions do their meditation at Muktinath. The local name for Muktinath is Chumig Gyatsa (Hundred Waters). For Tibetan Buddhists Muktinath-Chumig Gyatsa is a place of Dakinis, goddesses known as Sky Dancers. It is of great importance for Buddhists that Chumig Gyatsa is one of the 24 Tantric places. Padmasambhava plus the Mahasiddhas blessed it with their visit. This is a very brief enumeration. Beautiful scenery, high altitude, friendly behavior and heart wining adventure lure tourist to this place.

Pokhara


Pokhara is renowned for its setting rather than its historical or cultural endowments. Its peaceful lakeside location and proximity to the Annapurna mountain range mean it is an ideal place for recovering from (or gearing up for) a trek. Treks can be organised here as there is a good supply of guides and porters. After reaching Kathmandu tourist can reach pokhara by airplanes or by bus. By airplanes its 30 minutes journey and by bus approximately 6 hour to reach pokhara. The most famous places of the pokhara are phewa lake, Davi's Fall(patale chhango), Sarangkot, Bindabasini mandir, Begnas taal etc. From sarangkot a beautiful scenery of mountain can be viewed. A beautiful sun rising will make cheer in the face of all tourist when they reach there to see in the early morning. Pokhara, Lake Side in Nepal offers one of the most fantastic places in the world to international Paragliders. People come from all over the world to take advantage of the ideal jump off spots at Sarangkot at 1425m. From there you can catch a thermal and fly around the lake enjoy the view of Machapucre Fish Tall mountain. So pokhara is the place which must be visit once in life time.

NEPAL TOURISM YEAR 2011


Nepal is one of the richest countries in the world in terms of bio-diversity due to its unique geographical position and altitudinal variation. The elevation of the country ranges from 60 meters above sea level to the highest point on earth, Mount Everest at 8848 meters all with in a distance of 150 kilometers resulting into climatic conditions from sub-tropical to Arctic. Nepal. The year 2011 is very important year for Nepal because it is the year of visiting Nepal. Nepal has declared 2011 as Tourism year. To attract tourists from all over the world, Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation has come up with an ambitious plan, ‘Visit Nepal Tourism Year 2011’. Ministry is optimistic that this kind of events will increase tourist arrival and ultimately will create jobs and reduce poverty. In the budget government already committed fund to construct new international airport at Bara and upgrade few domestic airports. In addition, Ministry is searching for new trekking routes and looking to invest on infrastructure development. Previous such event was held back in 1998 as ‘Visit Nepal 1998'.

Nepal represents a blend of ancient history, vibrant cultures and scenic grandeur. Located between China and India, Nepal’s main geographical features include snow capped peaks, lower mountains, mid-hills and fertile plains of tropical jungles. The landlocked country covers an area of 147,181 kilometer ranging from 60 meter to highest point at 8,848 meter above the sea level. This Kathmandu valley boasts seven UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Sites all within a radius of 20 kilometers.

Kathmandu Durbar Square
Kathmandu Durbar Square lies in the heart of the Kathmandu city. The locals know this are by its old name Hanuman Dhoka –an ancient seat of the Nepalese Royalty. The Royal Palace during medieval times were not merely for Royal activities but also used as the center of administration, cultural activities and festivals.The historical buildings and temples in the area were erected from the time of King Ratna mall (1484-1520 A.D.) to Prithivi Bir Bikram Shah Dev (1875-1911 A.D) covering the period of Malla, Shah and Rana period of Nepalese history. The entire palace complex here is name after a monkey god called Hanuman. One can see a huge stone statue of Hanuman painted all red next to the main entrance (the golden gate) of the palace. Hanuman here is regarded as a powerful protector of the entire Durbar Square. The prominent monuments are Taleju Temple, Krishna Temple, Jagannath Temple, Stone Column, Degutalle Temple, Shiva Parabati Temple, Hanuman Statue, Big Bell, Kal Bhairav, Maju Dewal, Tril okya Mohan Durbar, Gaddi Baithak, Kasthamandap, Ashok Vinayak.
